our physician
Dr. Tehrani grew up in Greensboro, NC. He received his master’s degrees in biology at UNC in shark physiology. For the next 7 years after graduation, he dedicated himself to research in osteoporosis at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He graduated medical school in 2004 and finished his Internal Medicine residency in 2007 at NYU, where he also researched and published on the prevention of pneumonia in critically ill patients. He spent the next 18 years in clinical practice, caring for over 75,000 patients in hospitals, ICUs, and clinics. In the first week of March 2020, when the first Corona case was diagnosed in Georgia, he was one of the first physicians in the State to volunteer to care for the sickest and most contagious of these patients in hospitals, which he continued to do until the end of the pandemic. He is consulted from near and far on complex medical cases. He has worked and published in the fields of Histology, Physiology, and Osteoporosis. In addition to Internal Medicine, he has expertise in pain management procedures and aesthetic medicine. His broad experience has helped him develop and use novel techniques and procedures to help his patients.
In an age where money drives medical care, his treatment of patients is anchored in a 3000-year-old medical tradition, which holds that patient care is a sacred trust which must be discharged with vigilance, reverence, and independence. In his view, the foundation of healing is the physician-patient relationship. His philosophy is best summarized by Dr. Francis Peabody in his address to Harvard Medical School a 100 years ago:
"The secret of the care of the patient is in caring for the patient."
